Advant Day 13: Jesus: Prince of Peace

"For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders.  And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace."
Isaiah 9:6

This is another highly quoted verse around Christmas time and for good reasons too.  Isaiah was a prophet who spoke these words hundreds of years before Jesus was even born!  He was right of course be God inspired his words but it's still amazing the connection between the Old Testament and the New Testament.  The entire Old Testament is pointing to the coming of Jesus and God's redemption through Him.  So I encourage you to study it closely to appreciate the Gift even more :)

So Jesus is the Prince of Peace.  He can bring a Peace into your life that is unlike anything of this world.  The Peace that Jesus offers you is amazing.  You can be free of your sins and the guilt that follows them.  You can be free of addictions and worship of idols.  You can be free of anxiety and worry (I'm working on this one!).  You can be free of so many things if you let Jesus take over your life.  When you are rooted and have Jesus as your Foundation, then Peace will enter your life.

I think the greatest Peace is that our life is already in the hands of God.  He knows everything that will happen.  We just need to be still and listen to Him.  That's how I have experienced Peace in my life.  Giving control to God (who ultimately has it in the first place!). When I give to Him what is rightfully His, then Peace follows.

This time of year can be hectic and crazy that everyone forgets what we are celebrating, who we are celebrating.  Let some Peace enter life this season but remembering that we are celebrating Jesus' Birthday and the fact that God wanted us so badly as His children that His Son died for us.  That is how much God loves you, each and every one of us.  He sacrificed His Precious Son for you.  That's the best Christmas Present we could ever receive.

How does this change your perspective of God this Christmas? Can you make this truth a part of your tradition this year?  Have you already centered your whole Christmas celebration around Jesus?  If so, let me know because I would love to still make some improvements in our family celebrations :D

With His Love,
A
