9th Day of Advent: Jesus the Vine

"I am the vine; you are the branches.  If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing"
John 15:5

Why is Jesus saying that He is the Vine?  What does that mean?  Maybe you live in California or New York where there is a lot of wine-making country.  You may also be really into nature.  You then will know that the vine is the main part of the grape plant and the branches shoot out from it.  Also the trunk of a tree is the main life source carrying water and noutrients to all parts of the tree.  The branches are the auxillary that bear the fruit of the tree.  This is extactly how our life should be!!

Jesus is the vine, the main life source.  We are the branches that stem from Him.  If we are connected to the Vine, then Jesus promises something amazing!  If we remain close to the Vine, going to Him for our daily needs, we will bear much fruit.  The branches of trees must be attached to the trunk in order for the fruit and leaves to grow on the ends.  The same way is with our life.  We cannot bear spiritual fruit (Galatians 5) unless we get our life source from The Vine.

How does this truth impact your life?  What do you need to change in your life so that you are going to the Vine daily for support and life supply?  Will you join me on this journey of studying Jesus' names?  Subscribe to receive my blog posts right in your inbox!

With His Love,
